Job Description:
Brake Press Operator Job Duties and Tasks Sets stops on machine
bed, changes die, and adjusts components, such as ram or power
press, when making multiple or successive passes. Operates power
press, power brake, apron brake, swaging machine, foot-powered
press, hydraulic press, or arbor press according to specifications.
Installs, aligns, and secures gears, holding fixtures, dies to
machine bed, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand
tools. Plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of physical
properties of metal. Inspects workpiece for defects. Measures
workpiece and verifies dimensions and weight, using micrometer,
template, straightedge, and scale. Selects and positions flat,
block, radius, or special purpose die sets into ram and bed of
machine, using hoist, crane, measuring instruments and hand tools.

Moving Objects Using hands and arms in handling, installing,
positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material Inspecting equipment,
structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other
problems or defects. Getting Information Observing, receiving, and
otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
Performing General Physical Activities Performing physical
activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and
moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing,
walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Monitor Processes,
Materials, or Surroundings Monitoring and reviewing information
from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess
problems. Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates
Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates
by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Making
Decisions and Solving Problems Analyzing information and evaluating
results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Skills
Operation and Control Controlling operations of equipment or
systems. Operation Monitoring Watching gauges, dials, or other
indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. Mathematics
Using mathematics to solve problems. Science Using scientific rules
and methods to solve problems. Equipment Selection Determining the
kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Quality Control
Analysis Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or
processes to evaluate quality or performance. Equipment Maintenance
Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when
and what kind of maintenance is needed. Operations Analysis
Analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design.
Monitoring Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other
individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take
corrective action. Troubleshooting Determining causes of operating
errors and deciding what to do about it. Reading Comprehension
Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related
documents. Qualifications Knowledge, Experience, Education High
School Diploma/GED Minimum of 5 years of related experience
(preferably using an Accurpress Brake ETS 3000 Control) Equivalent
combination of education and experience. Mechanical Knowledge of
machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and
